Application of Regulation (EC) no. 883/2004 and 987/2009 between Switzerland and the EU-States

The new EU Regulations No 883/2004 and 987/2009 will apply in the relations between Switzerland and the EU-States from 1st April 2012, with the entry into force of the revised annex II to the Agreement on the free movement of persons.

These regulations replace regulations No 1408/71 and 574/72.

Explanations on the impacts for the different social security branches and the new applicable forms will be found under the corresponding sections.

EFTA States

Regulations No 1408/71 and 574/72 remain applicable in the relations between Switzerland and the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), as the EFTA Convention has not yet been adapted to include the new regulations.
