Fraudulent emails

Updated on 17 Apr 2026

Emails are currently circulating which claim to be from the Federal Social Insurance Office, in which the sender asks the recipient to provide their OASI (Swiss social security) number so that the FSIO can proceed with a review of their case file.

Evidence-based inputs in the policy cycle

Federal policy research carried out by the FSIO provides the necessary evidence-based inputs to the decision-making processes of the Federal Administration and federal policymakers. These research findings are necessary for both parties to perform their tasks.

Evidence-based inputs in the policy cycle

The diagram shows how the findings of FSIO research (R) and evaluations (E) inform each stage of the policy cycle and how they support evidence-based policymaking.

Policymaking is divided into four distinct phases, each with specific research and evaluation activities:

  • design phase: research on issues with social policy implications and their causes, as well as an evaluation of the possible impact of policy measures
  • implementation phase: evaluations of the design and implementation of policy measures
  • outcomes phase: evidence on policy outcomes
  • evaluation phase: review and assessment of the impact of policy measures

Research engagement in all four stages of the policy cycle support evidence-based assessments of policy initiatives. This informs the strategic direction of federal policymakers and sheds lights on the implications of social policy measures. In this way, verifiable facts and scientific analysis inform political decision-making, which in turn facilitates effective, efficient and socially legitimate government action.
