Situations involving foreign countries/citizens
Are you planning to leave Switzerland or move here? Are you going to be posted to Switzerland temporarily? Below is an overview of the points to consider regarding Swiss social security cover.
Are you leaving Switzerland?
Switzerland has concluded social security agreements with more than 50 countries. The purpose of these agreements is to safeguard your right to social protection:
If the country you are moving to features on the above list, this generally means that your country of destination and Switzerland coordinate access to their respective social security systems. These coordination arrangements aim, among others, to protect you from the risk of double social security contributions and the loss of social security rights that you have already acquired.
If you are moving from Switzerland to an EU or EFTA member state, you will find detailed information in the following leaflet:
Leaving Switzerland and moving to an EU or EFTA member state.
If you are moving to a country which is not an EU/EFTA member state but has concluded a social security agreement with Switzerland, you will find detailed information in the country-specific brochure:

If the country you are moving to is not on the list, this means that your country of destination and Switzerland do not coordinate access to their respective social security systems.
General information can be found in a brochure published by the State Secretariat for Migration, available in thirteen languages here: Swiss social insurance system: Period of stay in Switzerland and departure
