Health insurance

Social health insurance gives everyone living in Switzerland access to adequate health care in the event of sickness, and accident if they are not covered by accident insurance.

Accident insurance

All employees who work in Switzerland are obligatorily insured against accidents and occupational illnesses. Accident insurance (UV) covers damages that arise if insured persons have an accident or suffer from an occupational illness. The benefits include medical treatment and financial support.

As from 1 January 2004 all matters concerning health and accident insurance have been transferred from the Federal Social Insurance Office (FSIO) to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health (SFOPH). Users can find information about health and accident insurance on the SFOPH website:
